Dozens of Community Organizations to Participate in June 3rd Health Fair at Parkland

Parkland Medical Center will host their annual Family Health Fair on Saturday, June 3, 2006 on the Parkland Medical Center campus in Derry from 9a.m. to 2p.m. Plans are in the final stages for this outdoor event, which Parkland is hosting along with the participation of over 30 community organizations. “Due to the success of last year’s event, the number of community organizations participating has really grown,” said Melissa Crane, Public Relations Coordinator at Parkland. “This is a fun-filled event which gives people, of all ages, the opportunity to learn more about health services and programs available to them locally, as well as how to keep themselves healthy through wellness education and prevention”, she added.

Free Health Screenings will include: cholesterol, blood pressure, spinal, vision, diabetes risk assessment, peripheral vascular disease and body fat analysis. Information will also be provided about heart health, sleep disorders, cancer care, women’s health, child immunizations, - emergency services, eye care, obstetrics and gynecology, nutrition and exercise, back pain, mental health, ergonomics and senior services.

Other participating organizations include; Stroller Strides, A Safe Place, Parenting NH, Beckley Family Chiropractic, Cuts Fitness For Men, OnTrac Wellness Center, NH WIC and Folic Acid Programs, Spindel Eye Associates, Derry Friendship Center, New England Chiropractic, Derry Community Girl Scouts, Rockingham Orthopaedic Associates, Community Alliance For Teen Safety, Center For Life Management, The Upper Room, Women’s Progressive Health, Women’s Health Associates of Derry, Lifetime OB/GYN, NH State Library, Integrity Health Enhancement, Greater Derry Community Health Services, Parkland Family Practice, Parkland Internal Medicine, NH DHHS Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, Penacook Place, Babies R’Us car seat safety, The Orthopedic Center, Derry/Salem Home Health, Core Vascular Surgeons, The Workout Club and Wellness Center, Medical Reserve Corps, Greater Derry Area Health and Safety Council, Seasons Natural Healthcare, Gold’s Gym, and Rockingham County ServiceLink and the H2U Organization. There will also be a performance by the New Hampshire Academie of Dance.

The Molly Bish Foundation will provide free child identification kits for all children. Formed by John and Magdalene Bish after the loss of their daughter Molly, the foundation provides parents with a safety ID booklet that contains a color head and shoulder photograph and a complete set of fingerprints. The fair will also host a Mercury Thermometer Exchange Program in which residence residents can exchange their Mercury Thermometer for a free Digital Thermometer.

A FunBounce jump house and Vertical Horizons rock climbing wall will provide fun and entertainment for all ages. The Manchester Fisher Cat Mascot, FUNGO, will also make an appearance at the event.
